Greetings, Bacon bros and babes!
We hope all is well with you in these strange times, and that your health and spirits remain in great shape despite current circumstances. Today we have some exciting, big, bittersweet news to share.
For the first time since late March, Bacon is getting back on the stage! We will be playing in Asheville, NC on Friday November 6th. The event for this show will be posted later today!
Now, to be real with y’all...
Covid has been an all around gut-punch. The pandemic shook the entire world, especially the food, drink and music communities that we hold dear. Dr. Bacon was not immune. Our lives, livelihoods, and artistic endeavors have been thrown into limbo. This time of shutdown has changed each of us individually, as well as the lineup of our band.
When you see us next, there will be some familiar faces absent and some new faces present. We have nothing but love and best wishes for those who have chosen to dedicate themselves to other endeavors. We also have nothing but hope and excitement for what lies ahead.
We will miss the propelling guitar work of John Kirby, the soaring leads of Jackson Weldon, and the bombastic bass energy of Rob Palmer. Yet we are thrilled to welcome Rory Joseph and Matthew Gornto to the Dr. Bacon lineup.
Rory has a long history of jamming with us from his days rocking the guitar and vocals in FL/GA’s illustrious hard rock/jam trio Custard Pie. He has moved his whole family up to the Asheville area from Jacksonville to join us in bringing greasy funk rock goodness to you.
Matt Gornto is someone most of you know already, even if you don’t realize it. Having engineered and produced both the Cobra EP and and Fast and Loose With The Essentials LP at his Dogwood Studio in Asheville, G-man has been involved with Dr. Bacon’s music for quite some time. Now, in addition to being our recording studio wizard, he will hold down the groove on bass.
Of course, the biggest most exciting news is saved for last.....
You can buy them at the show on 11/6, and order them online soon.
Stay greasy, y’all. We hope to bring the sweet meat to your ears in person safely and very very soon!
